In the movie the showed a old lady getting blown up in her house which signified the woman at gettysburg getting shot in her house. This was the bloodiest battle in the Civil War it had a death toll of 51,000 people.

In the movie John Geyser went to see his sister here. Vicksburg was the last battle in the Civil war all the North did was circle the town with cannons and keep moving in closer.

The Underground Railroad was the journey for the slaves to freedom. They ran away from there Southren owners to the North so they could fight for their freedom.
